Sloped Lots
Sloped-lot & hillside driveways
Many mid-Peninsula lots, particularly in the San Carlos and Belmont hills, and up toward Woodside, Portola Valley, and Los Altos Hills, sit on grades that a standard flat-driveway gate design cannot handle. A swing gate that clears level ground can bind or drag on a rising driveway; a sliding gate needs the right track approach and clearances.
We assess grade, swing radius, drainage, and the way vehicles actually approach the entrance, then specify a gate type and operator suited to the slope, often a sliding or cantilever gate where a swing gate would not clear, or a gate hinged and hung to accommodate the incline. The goal is a gate that opens smoothly and safely every time, on a driveway that is anything but flat.
