Fence installation in the Bay Area
A fence should do more than mark a boundary, it should match your gate, protect your property, and look like it belongs. We install ornamental iron, aluminum, tubular steel, wood privacy, and commercial security fencing, designed to work as one system with your automatic entry gate.
Overview
Fencing is rarely just fencing
Most of our clients are securing a driveway, enclosing a yard, screening a pool, or defining a commercial perimeter, and in nearly every case there is a gate involved.
That is where NGL is different: we build and service automatic gates every day, so we treat your fence as the frame around your entry, not an afterthought bolted on later.
The right material depends on your goals for security, privacy, maintenance, and appearance, and on the property itself. Below we cover the materials we install, how we match a fence to an automatic gate, the applications we serve, and our approach to sloped Bay Area lots across the Bay Area.
Matched Gate + Fence
Fencing built to match your automatic gate
Clients want the fence and the automatic gate to look like they were designed together. When the gate is an afterthought, the picket spacing, top rail, color, and metal profile rarely line up and the entry looks pieced together.
We design the fence line and the automatic gate as one visual system, matched profiles, finishes, colors, and heights, with posts and footings sized for both the fence spans and the load of a motorized gate. Already have a gate, or planning one later? We can match a new fence to an existing entry or provision the openings so a gate can be added down the road.

Materials
Fence materials we install
There is no single "best" fence material, the right choice balances openness versus privacy, maintenance, security, and the look you are after. Here are the options we install and where each fits best.

Ornamental Iron Fencing
Classic, strong, and timeless, with an open, elegant boundary and decorative options like spear tops, rings, and scrolls. Best for estate and residential perimeters and matching a formal automatic gate.

Ornamental Aluminum Fencing
The same open, decorative look as iron but won't rust, a strong choice in damp, coastal-influenced Bay Area microclimates. Best for low-maintenance ornamental runs, HOAs, and pool enclosures.

Tubular Steel Fencing
Heavier and more robust than aluminum while keeping clean ornamental lines, a popular middle ground in modern flat-top and picket styles. Best for security-conscious homes and modern entries.

Wood Privacy Fencing (Cedar & Redwood)
When privacy is the priority, cedar and redwood weather well and build in board-on-board or horizontal-slat styles. Best for backyard and side-yard privacy and pairing with a wood-accent gate.

Security & Commercial Fencing
Heavier-gauge steel and reinforced ornamental systems with anti-climb profiles and increased height, integrated with an automatic gate and access control. Best for commercial, industrial, and institutional sites.

Chain-Link Fencing (Commercial & Industrial)
The practical, cost-effective choice for large areas, galvanized or vinyl-coated, with optional privacy slats. Best for storage yards, parking, equipment enclosures, and utility sites.

Residential & Estate Fencing
For homes and estates, fencing does three jobs at once: security, privacy, and curb appeal. We match materials to the architecture, ornamental iron or aluminum for open front boundaries, wood for private rear yards, and handle long perimeter runs, multiple entries, and a signature driveway gate with matching fence.
Commercial Fencing
Commercial clients need fencing that protects assets, controls access, and holds up to daily use. We install security and steel fencing, commercial chain-link, and reinforced systems that integrate cleanly with automatic gates and entry controls.
HOA & Property-Management Fencing
HOAs and property managers need fencing that stays consistent and durable across a community or portfolio. We help boards standardize on materials and finishes that match community guidelines, coordinate perimeter and amenity fencing, and pair community entries with automatic gates and access control.
Sloped Ground
Fencing on sloped & uneven ground
Bay Area lots are rarely flat, so a fence has to be engineered for the terrain, not just run in a straight line. There are two main approaches, and we help you choose:
- Racking (following the slope): panels are angled so the fence follows the ground line, a smooth, continuous look on gentle-to-moderate grades with iron, aluminum, and tubular steel.
- Stepping (stair-stepped panels): each panel stays level and the fence steps down the slope, common with wood privacy fencing and steeper grades for a defined, terraced line.
Sloped ground also affects gate choice, another reason we plan the fence and automatic gate together after assessing the grade on site.

FAQ
Frequently asked questions
It depends on what matters most: ornamental iron for classic strength and open sightlines, aluminum for a similar look with no rust and low upkeep, tubular steel for a stronger modern profile, wood (cedar or redwood) for full privacy, and security or chain-link fencing for commercial perimeters. We walk your property and recommend the best fit.
